- I vaugely recall when we were given information about cord blood, I seem to recall the initial cost was like several hundred dollars plus an annual fee of something like a hundred dollars.
- WHEN MY BROTHER CHECKED IN TO IT HE WAS TOLD HE NEEDED $1000.00 AND THERE WAS A MONTHLY FEE. I PERSONALLY THINK IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY.
- Honestly, there needs to be a little more information for me before I would do this. There hasn't been much regulation done about this procedure yet, and the only advertisements that we are hearing regarding cord blood banking are from the companies getting the money....for instance, what is the guarantee that YOU would be the beneficiary of this blood...and the costs per year to store it...are high.... I think as new parents there are allot of new expenses that we must worry about. It's up to you of course, but this just seems to be something not yet worth the expense at this time.
- I checked into this when my daughter was born and they wanted $1800 and like $100 dollars a month after that for a storage fee... :\ its a great idea, but most people dont just have that money to drop like that. At least I didnt and still dont.
- I'ts pretty expensive however you can donate the cord blood for free. They will send you the kits and everything.
- I banked my son's cord blood through Cord Blood Registry and they had payment plans available, we went with a 6 month interest free plan, but they do have another one for 12 months. It worked out to about $330 a month for the 6 months, (we also had a coupon for $250 off) we were just extra careful about spending during that time. The person that I dealt with directly was fantastic, I highly recommend them. If you've only got 2 weeks you need to make a decision soon to make sure you get all the information filled out and returned to them and make sure you have the kit to bring to the hospital with you!! Good luck! ***EDIT*** There is a YEARLY storage fee of about $125
