Umbilical Cord Blood Bank

Anyone use Viacord cord blood banking system?

I'm trying to decided if the expense is worth it. Why did you decide to use it? Did you end up using the blood?

1. i am pregnant and i have never met someone who has done the cord blood banking but i plan to. i have heard great things about it and you never know if your child could need it. i would rather be safe than sorry and i have also heard they can use it through out there entire life even when they grow old.
2. We haven't had to use the blood and hopefully we never will, but storing it is a form of health insurance (for both the baby and other family members) and we didn't want to regret our decision down the road. We used CBR Cord Blood Registry instead of Viacord, because CBR has more experience. I think Viacord is comparable though. We didn't consider any other banks for fear that they may not survive the recession. Regarding expense, if you think about the money you may be spending on your baby, for example for childcare which could be $500-$1000 per month, an investment like this, for something that could save a life, falls into perspective.
