Is a Cord Blood Bank a good idea/investment at birth?
Has anyone ever done this and used it? Do you believe it is a good investment? My rate is $2k + $125/yr... I just feel that this is a little much and that if we eve needed to use it, it would be too difficult to pay for the medical procedure to "extract" the blood. Thoughts?

- That was my issue too. It's way too expensive. I would consider it if I knew some strange rare disease or illness occurred in my family or my husband's family but the cost is ridiculous.
- That is a tough decision but when I first seen the option for doing that I was definitely on board just in case my sweetheart would ever need it.
- It's only a good idea to bank it if you know you're going to use it--e.g. You have a family member who's ill now and is going to need it. To put it away for future use when you're not sure you're going to need it is a waste of money, in my opinion, and quite possibly a waste of the cord blood, too. I did not bank my babies' cord blood when they were born for the above reason. I did, however, donate it to be used by others who need it. Most hospitals will give you the option to do that.
